After the bumper success of the last #ipl broadcast rights deal, the Board of Control for #cricket in India has decided to separate its domestic linear and digital rights when it tenders its rights from 2023-24 onwards in the coming months. Last year, BCCI got Rs 48,390 crore for the 2023-27 cycle of the IPL by separately selling the TV and digital rights. This is three times the amount fetched for rights between 2018 and 2023.

Previously Disney Star had paid about 6000 crores for both TV and digital rights of the Domestic deal. It is expected that BCCI would fetch around 12000 Crores from the current rights deal which would be for 4 years unlike the last deal which was for 5 years.

So it is expected to be part 2 of the currently ongoing Battle of Broadcasters between Disney Star and Jio. Will we see the Zee-Sony combine disrupt this further?

Adidas set to become BCCI’s new kit sponsor

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is close to announcing Adidas as its new kit sponsor. Apparently Adidas has agreed a five-year deal, from June 2023 until March 2028, to produce the kits for the Indian men’s, women’s and U19 teams. Considering that the previous deal was for 65 lacs per match but was completed for the full tenure, BCCI may have accepted a reduced price. Addidas is a global brand specialising in Sports Merchandise and this deal would clearly help grow the “Real Merchandise” business.
