Courtroom to Classroom
Cohen, Placitella & Roth, PC partner Stewart Cohen presented to anesthesiologists from around the country at Harvard Medical School's Anesthesiology Update 2024 program. Stewart engaged with physicians about issues regarding assuring patients are giving an informed consent before undergoing procedures. Critical issues for both physicians and patients, Stewart emphasized the need for thoughtful, candid conversations between doctors and their patients.
Rachel Placitella
On February 22nd, Rachel Placitella was presented with the Meyer Segal Award by the New Jersey Association for Justice in recognition of her dedication to advancing and supporting women in the practice of law. On May 15, she will be speaking at the "Hot Topics on Legal Ethics" Seminar at the NJ State Bar Convention in Atlantic City.

NJAJ 2024 Boardwalk Seminar
CPR had several attorneys attend the NJAJ 2024 Boardwalk Seminar, in which many of them were speakers and moderators. These attorneys included Jared Placitella, Frances McDermott, Michael Coren, Chris Placitella, Jennifer L. Emmons,?and Rachel Placitella.
Seminar Programs
Michael (“Mike”) Coren presented a continuing legal education (CLE) lecture on April 17 to lawyers, addressing the current mass tort litigation programs going on in Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, also located in Philadelphia.
Chris Placitella moderated the "Are We Still Dancing the Texas Two-Step? Mass Tort Bankruptcy Update" on Thursday, April 18th and co-chairing the "FOMO to Oh, NO: Case Selections in Mass Tort and Class Actions Panel Discussion".
Rachel Placitella, was the co-host and co-organizer of this year's NJAJ Women's Trial Lawyer Caucus Luncheon at the NJAJ Boardwalk Seminar wherein Linda Lipsen, CEO of AAJ, was the guest speaker.
Jennifer L. Emmons served as co-chair of the medical malpractice seminar and the PA Practice seminar.?She also spoke at the med mal seminar on Learned Treatises and the use of medical literature at trial.??
Frances ("Frannie") McDermott spoke on April 18th on the topic of managing client expectations from discovery to negotiation.
Jared Placitella moderated the "Winning Your Case Through Focus Groups" Program on April 17th and also spoke on the program "Mallory v. Norfolk Southern: Personal Jurisdiction".
Mock Trial Judge
In May, CPR Member Eric Pasternack, a co-chair of Philadelphia's John S. Bradway High School Mock Trial Competition, served as a judge in the 2024 National High School Competition in Wilmington, Delaware.
