Having been involved with the review process, we were excited to see the launch of the Maldives First Tourism Climate Action Plan and the Maldives Climate Smart Tourism Program. While the Maldives is set to face numerous climate-related challenges in the coming decades, the ongoing innovations within the tourism sector, both domestically and internationally, provide a source of optimism for the future.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed attended a special ceremony at the Republic Square to officially welcome the Maldivian athletes who achieved a historic victory at the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2023. This included the daughter of one of our friends who had won a bronze medal as part of the basketball team. This victory is a testament to the administration's commitment to developing and promoting #sports, improving sports infrastructure, and providing more opportunities for Maldivian #athletes to excel in local and international arenas.
A cutting-edge 'Malé Waste Transfer Station,’ has been inaugurated, marking a significant milestone in the #Maldives' commitment to proper waste management. This state-of-the-art facility, covers over 65,000 square feet in the Industrial Village of Malé City, is a testament to the government's dedication to addressing #wastemanagement challenges. The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced an initiative to offer free bus and ferry #transport to college and university students. Now, #students can effortlessly access these services by simply presenting their student ID cards, easing their financial burden while prioritising convenience.
