In The News, IDUM Cooperates on Third International Documentary
Terrance P. Long
Chair and CEO International Dialogues on Underwater Munitions (IDUM)
Finish filming a new documentary in Paris in English and French on the environmental and human impacts from Underwater Chemical and Conventional Munitions left behind from the First and Second World Wars in France. International Dialogue on Underwater Munitions (IDUM) is promoting a Global Treaty, with a Trust Fund for Clean-up and Developing Regional Capacity for Underwater Deming Actions Teams (UDAT's). We are hopeful, that a similar response can happen internationally, as it was for Landmines and Cluster Munitions. IDUM is Partner and Co-Director for 3 Chemical Weapons Programs in Europe, including NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) MODUM. The continued policy of blowing-up munitions in our seas and ocean is having a major negative effect on the global fish stocks. We have founds in our intrusive science investigations tumours and cancers in fish, stress on their kidneys and livers, extra fish diseases, and the inability for Juvenal COD to reproduce in underwater munitions sites. We have developed new underwater technologies under NATO SPS, and have developed a Treaty, funded by our DAIMON (Decision Aids for Marine Munitions) Program. IDUM is always looking for new volunteers and experts for our programs. We currently are seeking a munitions expert for our The Hague office in The Netherlands to work on our DAIMON Program to further investigate underwater munitions with Russian Federation, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, The Netherlands and Canada.
