Upcoming IATEFL webinars and events

So....let's debate!

Date: Saturday?6 January 2024

Time: 15.00 UK time (check the time in your location)

According to American Debate League, a debate is “an organised argument or contest of ideas in which the participants discuss a topic from two opposing sides”. In other words, you divide your students into two groups, you give them a statement and each group has to take sides. Many teachers neglect or are afraid to organise debates as they believe that they are a waste of time or they do not see the value behind it.

In this webinar, presenter Tanya Livarda will provide theoretical and practical knowledge on what debates are, how they can be used in the classroom, and why both students and teachers can benefit from these. She will also present the key steps that one needs to follow, should they wish to create a debate club, as well as some key materials and activities that are useful during the debate classes.
