I sent this to my deployed team this morning:

Team,

Many of you woke up this morning and were shocked and saddened to see a portion of the worst side of America on display for the world to see. The on-going situation is made all the more difficult by being far from home, while serving in our own challenging circumstances and representing an imperfect nation.

Fortunately, every day since I have been here I have woken up and seen a portion of the best side of America. I have seen you in action selflessly serving our great nation. I have seen our partners doing the same. I have seen our team in action serving the lofty principles that are codified in the document to which we have sworn an oath to support and defend, while fully realizing that we sometimes fall short as a society.

Please use these events as a time of reflection about those principles and your service to them. Call your families to reassure them about your faithful service to those principles here as we continue to focus on our important mission. Take the time today to read the U.S. Constitution. Refresh yourself on those principles, recommit yourself to them, reflect on your oath, and reconsider those who have faithfully upheld that oath and those principles in the most challenging of circumstances throughout our nation’s storied history.

I fully trust that those principles will ultimately prevail over the basest impulses of humanity in our current national crisis as they have since 1789.

E John Teichert, Brigadier General (ret) At age seventeen, you first raised your right hand and took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. You did so alongside another ROTC cadet, Melonie Teichert, who has been his wife for over 25 years. Now recently retired, you continue to passionately fulfill that oath as a candidate to represent the state of Maryland in the United States Senate.?Throughout you years of service at home and abroad, you have witnessed the potency of our founding principles, and the ability to unleash them through service, leadership, and innovation. Now you are taking that focus to the United States Senate to reignite the powerful promise of America.

E John Teichert, Brigadier General (ret) you swore an oath and upheld your bargain - we all must uphold ours - we must be galvanized around American ???? values, not confusing policy differences of political rivals with nefarious plans of our true enemies - well said Sir. Some matters get to the heart of one question - will you uphold your oath?

While deployed I’m more concerned about the real violence, burning, looting, and murder of hundreds of people in 35 cities across the country over the last six months. What happened in our Nation’s Capitol has been wildly spun out of control and needs “fact check” and “missing context” notices that seem to only adorn one point of view. A million people gathered to voice their very real and legitimate concerns of significant voter fraud, of which there is video evidence and affidavits. Of those million citizens approximately 25 entered the Capitol Building after Hill Police inexplicably remove barriers and even invite people in. Two people were seen causing damage to a door and window during which episode the bulk of the crowd was shouting them down to stop and several stepped in and stopped the destruction of property. It is known there were violent left wing extremists who were involved in these activities. That is the story that needs to be told not false flag propaganda. I’m thankful for my training and for the important lesssons I learned from SERE school on these tactics. I’m also concerned about the stripping away of Constitutional Rights in a wholesale fashion while I contemplate what my oath of office really means.
