News from the GloBal TestNet annual meeting:

The GloBal TestNet is currently having its annual meeting in London in the premises of IMarEST headquarters. The venue has been kindly provided by IMarEST free of charge and we are very thankful for this. The 15 participants from 13 facilities from US, Europe, and Asia are, as usual, discussing important topics around testing (new G8 guidelines interpretation, methodologies for testing…etc). our report will be available on our website as soon as it is ready (https://www.globaltestnet.org/home). We also have the chance to have two observers from Lloyds Register and DNV-GL present (Sahan Abeysekara and Marte Rusten) as well as Antoine Blonce from GloBallast (IMO). Some of the discussion are taking place via Webex to include our colleagues who couldn’t travel at this time of the year.

All in all, I am very happy that the meeting is so productive. There are lots or very interesting technical discussions and a pile of plans for the year to come. We can really see that the work we have done as a group over the years is paying off. This means that the GloBal TestNet as an organization is going to be really busy this year. On this aspect, I’d like to thanks our two colleagues Gitte Petersen (DHI Denmark) and Mario Tamburri (MERC) for their efforts in running the organization last year and supporting the preparation of the bylaws. I also welcome Allegra Cangelosi (GSI) and Youngsoo Kim (KOMERI) in the Steering Committee. As expected, Tim Fileman (PML) will carry on his excellent work as secretariat, thanks Tim !

Tomorrow, we will make a presentation at the 6th IMarEST conference on Ballast Water in London, at the IMO HQ, and I am looking forward to see many of you there.

Best regards
