News from the Futures Studies Field

News from the Futures Studies Field

Every year, I make the same wish: that time would slow down! In other words, that I could have more time to think, to do other things that I love, to go on holiday, to visit my friends... But time just keeps speeding up, I don't know why!

And I really don't need another constraint like this newsletter...

So why am I doing this?

Because I am passionate about what I do. Because I believe in the need to think about the future to better manage our lives and our planet, to better manage our relationships and our resources, to find meaning in our frenetic pace of life and our efforts to rethink the world.

Because the future of the world is now in the hands of a new generation, the Alien Gen, and it is my responsibility, and that of all those who know, to help them find their way in a world that is paradoxically saturated with information and increasingly blind.

The purpose of this letter, therefore, is not to write articles - which I do in the form of independent articles - but to highlight the main elements gathered here and there that relate to the vast disciplinary field of Futures Studies, and which may help to clarify its contours and developments.

For my former students like Timothée CHANUSSOT , Camille Souhard , Fabrice TEUGUIA ... and for the young adults I meet in my various activities and travels like Dimitri Chuard , Julien Wacquez , Felix Zeltner , Daniel Shaw ... And, of course, for anyone interested in this field of thought.

Let's begin.

24 January 2024. An integrated vision of the field.

Charity begins at home. So, this is how I see now the field of future studies, through evolution and cultures [1].

Landscape of the FS field

To deep dive in it, just zoom in this Miro board. I will progressively add on it. For the sake of a better intercultural understanding, I added the French wording to the English one.

Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments.

I will comment later on the delimitations (more than boundaries) of the fields.
