News from Cottam - February 2024

It’s been a big month for Cottam, with the launch of our new forklift brush range. The forklift brushes are designed for tasks where large brooms are best, reducing the amount of manpower required for cleanups. The range includes 5 models, all of which are specifically designed for the task at hand. Read more about the range here.

Last year, we were approached by Lancaster & Morecambe College , who were looking for a broom that could tackle their yard, carparks and outdoor spaces with ease. They collaborated with us during the trial stage with an opportunity to try out both the Warehouse Wizz and Yard Master – with quality at the heart of everything we do, we wanted to test the product in a live environment before launching to the market. You can read their thoughts here.

And we've also interviewed our Head of Product, Nick Palfreyman , about how the range was developed and why they’re a great investment for your warehouse or yard. Read Nick's interview here.

We’re thrilled to announce we have ben nominated for an award in the category of ‘North East – LEP Area’ at this year’s Insider Media ‘Made in the North East’ Awards, incorporating Made Smarter UK .

Last year, we took part in the Made Smarter Adoption programme, where we were able to meet other businesses from across the region looking to incorporate digital technologies and overcome operational challenges. As a result of this we met experts at the Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (SAM) Project , who supported us with their extensive knowledge. Read more about our work with the SAM project here.

We are very much looking forward to the awards night and hope to catch up with our industry friends.

Have you seen our recent blog? Knowing which paintbrush to use for your task can be difficult, especially with so many options now available on the market. The decision comes down to a number of factors including the paint you’re using, the size of your surface, and the task itself. Our blog will take you through the different types of paintbrush available and how to choose the perfect tool.

This month, we welcomed two new students ( Aaron Mills and Anna Tripcony ) from Sunderland College on placement as part of their T-Level in Management and Administration. During their time with us, they'll work with colleagues from our Sales and Marketing, Finance and Warehouse teams amongst others to gain a good understanding of how businesses work in support of their studies.

Sales Manager and line manager, Susan Stewart , said “I’m excited to be part of their introduction to working life. I may be a little biased, but Cottam is a great place to work and start your career. I’m sure we’ll see great things from both Anna and Aaron in the future…”

At the start of February, the Cottam team came together for #TimeToTalkDay. Alongside cake and a cuppa, we took the opportunity to talk about mental health awareness and offer the space and 'time to talk'.
