News| Cost control and improve feed production efficiency

Low-protein diets are based on the theory of protein and amino acid nutritional balance, without affecting animal performance and product quality, by adding suitable types and quantities of industrial amino acids to reduce dietary protein levels and reduce nitrogen emissions.

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs responded to the suggestion on "vigorously promoting the application of low-protein diets" put forward by Chairman Qin Yinglin of Muyuan Co., Ltd., deputy to the National People's Congress.?

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that it attaches great importance to the development, promotion and application of low-protein diets. Speeding up the promotion of low-protein diets can improve the efficiency of raw material utilization, reduce soybean meal consumption, reduce soybean import dependence, reduce breeding costs, and reduce nitrogen emissions.

1.Regarding increasing the promotion of low-protein diets

In 2020, based on the research and establishment of a low-protein diet technology system, our ministry revised and issued the national standard of "Compound Feed for Piglets, Growing and Finishing Pigs" (GB/T 5915-2020). The average protein level of the whole feed for finishing pigs is the lowest. It is 12.6%, and the highest is 14.9%. It is expected that the protein consumption per kilogram of pork will be reduced by more than 10%.?

At present, the application of low-protein diets in integrated large-scale breeding enterprises is highly active, and there is still room for improvement in the use of commercial feeds. According to our department's survey of some large-scale pig breeding enterprises, the protein level of fattening pigs on their self-operated pig farms has dropped to 13.6%, which is about 2% lower than the industry average. However, small and medium-sized farms (households) generally use the level of protein content as the main indicator to measure the quality of feed products, and the protein level of fattening pig feed sold by feed companies is still above 15%.

In September 2020, the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Promoting the High-Quality Development of Animal Husbandry" (Guobanfa [2020] No. 31), clearly proposing to "establish and improve the nutritional value database of feed ingredients, and comprehensively promote accurate feed formulations and fine processing. "Technology", "Adjust and optimize the structure of feed formula, promote the reduction and substitution of corn and soybean meal" and other requirements. Our Ministry has taken effective measures to vigorously promote. On the one hand, it actively supports basic research such as the evaluation of the nutritional value of feed ingredients, and gradually establishes and improves the nutritional value database and application platform system of feed ingredients, which will be officially launched in April 2021, open to use by the whole society, and promote accurate feed formulation and precision.?

The configuration provides strong data support. On the other hand, it organized the establishment of the National Animal Nutrition Steering Committee, formulated and issued the “Technical Plan for the Reduction of Pig and Chicken Feed, Corn and Soy Meal Reduction”, and organized the national top ten leading feed companies and the top 30 companies to issue initiatives to guide the entire industry to apply low-protein days. The technical plan for reducing the amount of grain and corn and soybean meal can effectively reduce the protein level of feed and reduce the unreasonable consumption of feed grain.
