Something I’ve talked a lot about on the?Behind the Facade podcast?and blog is cognitive bias: basically, how our brain is always playing tricks on us!
Learning to recognise when there could be a bias at play is a crucial part of developing the mindset you need to really be successful. Take continuity bias, as an example. It’s easy to think that things will stay as they are right now – whether things are going well or the exact opposite.
It’s important not to fall into that trap – if things are going well, could there be a nasty surprise just around the corner? And if things aren’t going quite as you hoped, can you really think that they’re never going to get better and you should just give up?
This week in the podcast I talk through the systems that I’ve developed to optimise my productivity, and the blog takes a look at why sometimes playing a waiting game can be a good thing in the long run.
