Newham Social Services
My case opened with Newham Social Services in 2000 (diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome & Alcohol Dependency.) The average case in Mainstream Adult Care is 2 - 3 years. Does my Alcohol Dependence or less obvious autism really pose such as threat to any Independent Living or simply remain open indefinitely? My benefits reduced to £5 per day under the Mental Capacity Act after 2 periods of alcohol abuse in 2012 which both lasted 5 weeks. However, they never increased, and were more recently replaced by non-cash refundable vouchers simply for short-changing staff by 50p Is this not manipulation? Finally, my Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard started in 2016 after a head injury and 10 week hospital admission. It continues every year as ruled by the Court of Protection - I am always just 'below mental capacity.' The next hearing is 15th October 2024. I had previously highly restricted hours e.g. 4 accompanied by staff and only 1 hour alone so often abscond in protest, only to be found and retuned home by police sometimes within 3 days. More recently I was allowed 9 hours from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. On 1 occasion it lasted 8 months but on the second only 2 weeks (both stopped due to my returning home late and drunk.)
I can now only leave my house accompaneid by staff - 4 hour each day until the October hearing at the Court of Protection, High Holborn, London.
Reply for a further discussion - my case is now with their Learning Difficulties Team.
Thank you.
