Sian Goes To The Seaside | A Newcross Story?

Our #ANewcrossStory series continued recently where we spent the day with the amazing, Sian. Sian is an incredible client of ours who is living with cerebral palsy, scoliosis and dystonia. Along with her dedicated care team, she is living her life to the fullest! We recently joined her on a seaside adventure to Eastbourne. As our amazing carers Bridget and Michelle state, it’s important that people with any kind of disability can be encouraged to be as independent as possible in their own environment. ?? ?

The Care Show

In early October, we ventured over to the NEC in Birmingham for The Care Show ! We had an amazing couple of days speaking with healthcare professionals and leaders for a #VoicesofCare podcast special. We lead a live panel session with our Chief Ethics Officer and Co-Founder, Michelle Gorringe RN and Vice President of Community, Claire Reader , where we looked at ‘Empathy in action’, sharing real life stories of how to truly care. They?were joined by 2 of our amazing clients, Clare Thomas at Ilford Park Polish Home and Colin Pratt, father of Thomas who we featured in #ANewcrossStory.?

It was great to meet so many bright minds who want to change the sector for better and we look forward to next year’s event! Discover our #VoicesofCare - Care Show special here: https://youtu.be/QFjQohkLHtk

"Why is it we find it difficult to talk about racism?" ???

We were recently joined by Professor Joy Warmington , CEO of brap , for a thought-provoking episode of #VoicesofCare. Joy?discusses the critical issue of racism in healthcare with host M. Suhail Mirza . She challenges conventional thinking, arguing that we must move beyond simply being "not racist" to actively "anti-racist." She unpacks complex topics including race as a social construct, systemic barriers in healthcare, and the distinction between transactional and transformational change. With a focus on creating truly inclusive environments, Warmington offers insights on courageous leadership and paints an inspiring vision for a more equitable NHS that confidently embraces its diversity.?

?

"Society is sicker, and therefore more demanding" ???

On Monday, we will be releasing our next episode of #VoicesofCare where we are joined by Richard Meddings , Chair at NHS England . Meddings discusses the current state and future of the NHS with host Suhail Mirza. He highlights record levels of healthcare delivery despite challenges, major structural changes to improve efficiency, and key priorities like workforce planning and technological innovation. Meddings also shares his vision for leveraging tools like the NHS app, AI, and genomics to transform patient care.?
