Newcross Digest - December Edition

Welcome to Newcross Digest, featuring a mixture of news from us and the healthcare industry. In this edition we cover some inspirational stories, an exciting star-studded event and a brand-new service which is most important at this time of year.?

Steve’s Manchester Dream?

Steve, one of our amazing clients who has Motor Neurone Disease (MND), recently fulfilled his lifelong dream of watching his favourite team Manchester United play at Old Trafford. Our community carer, Natasha Plumley, messaged Manchester United to help fulfil Steve's dream and as part of his specialist care team, assisted Steve in travelling to and from the game. She also played a vital role in helping raise money to make the trip possible. MND and progress very rarely go hand in hand, typically it's regression, but Steve has made significant improvements which has clearly had a huge impact on his quality of life. It was only 18 months ago that Steve lost the ability to walk and talk. A truly inspirational and heart warming story. Well done to Steve and Natasha!?

Care Managers Show ?

We recently attended the exciting Care Managers Show at London’s Excel Centre. Alongside showcasing our services, we partnered with the Caring Times to host a #VoicesofCare special. Welcoming healthcare leaders and luminaires from the sector. Below you can watch the part 1 of 2 episodes where Lorraine Kelly CBE, sat down with host, M. Suhail Mirza to talk about the importance of health and social care as a career. Lorraine says:?

"The work that's done is absolutely vital. From when you're a baby right up to?end of life care. And we have?to be a bit more appreciative as a nation." ????

Zaskia’s Story?

After suddenly losing her husband in 2021, and her job shortly after,?Zaskia?found the thought of going back to her “usual” job role very scary. These experiences led her bravely into a career in care with Newcross, where she consistently makes a positive difference to people’s lives. We caught up with Zaskia to find out more about her career change and why care means so much to her. She said:?

I started at Newcross Healthcare Solutions because the idea of making a difference to those in care felt like the right thing to do. I loved my role as Client Success Executive, where I would interact with our care staff and clients alike.?

When the opportunity arose to move back into a sales environment, I was hesitant, but it ignited that love for the role again. I was… dare I say… excited?! I have since enrolled into an?apprenticeship?to maximise my skills and experience within the role and business.?

I’m definitely looking forward to what’s next. Life really begins when fear ends. ?

Live-in Care

We recently announced the launch of our new live-in care service. Live-in care provides full-time, personalised care in your own home, meaning that you don’t need to leave the place where you feel most comfortable and can keep your independence. Live-in care at Christmas can also be a great option for those who want to maintain their independence throughout the festive season.???

Christmas can bring all sorts of emotions for those requiring care. From feeling like they’re inconveniencing family and friends to worrying that they’ll miss out on festivities, there’s a lot to think about, especially for those living by themselves.?

Sasha, Ads, and Priya's fundraiser for Make-A-Wish

Continuing our partnership with our charity of the year, Make-A-Wish? UK . Three of our wonderful colleagues; Sasha Ewing , Priya Patel and Adam Symes , are taking part in the London Winter Walk Marathon! Inspired by the work that Make-A-Wish does, they wanted to help make wishes come true for critically ill children across the UK. Donations can be made here ??

Winter Walk JustGiving

This will help motivate them for a very cold 26 miles! Sadly, the number of wish enquiries from seriously ill children with less than a year to live is rising fast and, for families with critically ill children, every day counts.?

Your support has the power to make a wish come true for a critically ill child, allowing families to create lasting memories that they will treasure forever – no matter what the future holds.?
