Newcomers in the Romanian transport and logistics market

This week was marked by the news of two new companies entering the Romanian transport and logistics market – the Serbian company Milsped , a powerful player in the sector is opening its own branch in Romania, focusing on international transport and customs clearance, but with plans to expand into warehousing and other activities soon.

Also, the American company AIT Worldwide Logistics is acquiring the operations of Lubbers Logistics Group and expanding into four new markets: Romania, Turkey, Denmark and Norway, eying strengthening its road freight business segment, but also project cargo, especially for the energy sector.


SPEEDWELL Development has finalized the second phase of its logistics project?SPACEPLUS West and has acquired 29.000 sqm of land to develop a new logistics park in Popesti-Leordeni, SPACEPLUS East.

"When we decided to enter this segment and launch our first warehouse, we had a clear objective in mind - to turn SPACEPLUS into a national network by developing new locations in Bucharest as well as in other cities in Romania. A new report from IRU warns that the global truck driver shortage could double by 2028 and instead of 3 million truck driver positions currently unfilled in 36 countries, we could have close to 7 million.

In Europe in the next 5 years, we could be missing 745.000 truck drivers.         

Amongst solutions proposed by IRU are attracting more women in the industry, making access to the profession easier and third-country drivers.
