3) Feasts - Traditional Newari feast consists of a well-rounded platter that includes?chiura- beaten rice, haku musya - black soyabean curry, bhuti - soyabean, loba -?marinated ginger and garlic, choila - boiled and spiced mincemeat, wala tau gu alu -?fried potatoes, woh or bara- black dal fritters and chatamari - newari crepes. Newari cuisine is eaten by sitting on a mat Sukul, Gundri is usually prepared with hay. Everyone sits sideways on a long mat by folding their legs in a half lotus position. They start their meals by drinking Chhyang equivalent of wine in western countries. Newari foods are flavored with spices like cumin, coriander, black pepper, chilies, bay leaves, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, etc which gives a unique aroma and taste to the cuisine.?
