Swing Dancers, champagne, boas, short dresses, thigh highs, and tailored suits with suspenders. It's New York in the 1920s where dancing was expected and people partied nightly. Showing off to gain attention and make your image known was how they did it in New York. Style was expected as other cities were sure to follow the newest fashion style seen nightly here. The clubs were separated as Caucasians and Blacks danced in their own night clubs but with the same energetic passion seen. Tonight is a special night as diversity is being seen with the same energetic passion and dance but a different "Cotton Club".
It is the year 2016 and "A Night at the Cotton Club" was held at Sashas Restaurant (www.sashasdallas.com) located in Dallas, Tx on North Central Expressway. Produced by Verb Kulture and Shelley Carrol to honor Black history month, this New York style event brought out almost 400 people. Nothing but style and energy as the people enjoyed the ambiance, entrees and drinks.
Enjoying the orchestra, swing dancers (35 Jive Swing Dancers, @35jive), and soul singers kept everyone focused on the stage. It was a delight to see the recreation of the 1920s brought to the 2oth century making you go back into time. Though the entertainment, food, and drinks were great, the view of having men and women of all cultures in one setting enjoying each other made it grand.
