New York City Thank You
My wife and I had the opportunity and pleasure to spend the month of August in the West Village of Manhattan. New York City has always provided a wonderful place to stay, visit, eat, drink, cultural experiences, sporting events and the list is endless of why we love the city so much.
Clearly this stay and visit were different and there is no reason to go into why as its been so well documented that any recap of the reasons would be onerous and a repeat, with the one exception, actually having first hand view of the “changes”, which are let's say different for sure.
However, as a lifelong hospitality family, and in the spirit that in some way we are all here to serve in some capacity, we would like to pay tribute to the efforts, creativity, wonderful service, great food and beverages and overall spirit of the NYC establishments we were lucky enough to spend time during our stay. In no particular order, just a tribute to your business and above all your dedicated team of associates, a big THANK YOU !

During these times, I implore you to come for a visit and patronize the great city of New York (or any city/town for that matter)! Having all patrons outside gives off an awesome vibe and many streets are closed to vehicle traffic during dining hours to allow an even better environment, and Pet friendly too ! Of course, safety first for all, and speaking of that, every establishment we enjoyed was right on point regarding the proper COVID requirements. As we move into September, there are rumblings that inside dining options will not be available in NYC until January 2021, which will make this fabulous industry look very different very soon if we all don't support these establishments with our patronage and where possible impacting local and state government with your peaceful and encouraging voice. This industry is creative, talented, hard working and I am sure new ideas will arise to keep people working and innovation on how to solve seasonality seating !!!
Lastly, a big thank you to the NYPD, NYFD, EMT's etc. and the efforts of the department of sanitation for making New York what New York should be, a wonderful place to live, work, visit and enjoy ! Wear a mask wherever you go !
Thanks NYC, see you soon ! Very Soon !

4 年Tom, great read and well said! I had the pleasure of working and living in that great city of New York for 25 years, and I miss the energy and the culture. While people have said its changed as of late, it will always be the center of everything thanks to those hard working New Yorkers who make it a great destination for business or pleasure. The city that never sleeps may be taking a rest for now, but it will awake soon and once again be the Big Apple we all know and love!!

4 年Agreed! This city is strong, innovative, and is adapting to the challenges of COVID to keep the gears turning. I love the outdoor dining solutions that restaurants have been providing and I'm hoping that they become a long term feature of the city. NYC Strong!
