Diwali is often called the festival of lights, but it is all about finding the inner light in ourselves or outshining our darkness. So when the entire world is illuminated with the spark from diyas, people light small acts of kindness in their hearts and share positivity among themselves. This celebration has become one reason to bind the world together.


With the rise of Indian immigration in London, Diwali celebrations have also caught the attention at the national level. Nandita Sharma, A Newyork based IT professional, says that when she immigrated to the UK in 1983, Diwali was celebrated only at the home. But now Diwali celebrations are widely seen in the UK. The striking news is that authorities in New York City are going to come up with a plan to include Diwali as a public holiday in the school Schedule from the year 2023 onwards. The celebration was started to replace an obscure and antiquated day created in 1800. This event has created excitement among many the Newyorkians.

So what might be the reason for the wipeout of the anniversary day which was celebrated since 1829?


When the slice of a world lives in one place, it is important to honour and celebrate their festival. It's a token of honour that the government offers to young people. There was a widespread notion that there isn't enough room for a festival leave to get added. But the legislators have realized the need to recognize Diwali as a festival for many. This declaration from the Mayor who is often called a spiritual Mayor was a sweet treat for many. The growing Newyork population includes many Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists.?

Mythologically and spiritually, many stories are popular about Diwali. But the reality is that the principle of war in all legends is the same. The principle is that good shine over evil. We all celebrate that light as Diwali, the festival of lights.

Many countries have recently started celebrating Diwali. It is a great honour for the Indian diaspora spread across the world. A simple acre of lighting a Diya brings such a positive change in the world. When everyone is wished and good luck in the world, it's such bliss.
