New Year's Work Resolutions

New Year's Work Resolutions

Happy 2024!

What are your new year's work resolution?

For many the start of the new year is a time to look forward and seek new beginnings. Fortunately, Australia's job market remains strong and experienced professionals, especially lawyers are in demand. January is the perfect time to plan for the year and perhaps plan to secure that dream job.

If you are not sure what career-related resolutions to focus on this year, below are some goals to consider helping kick off your new year at work on the right path.

  1. Audit your social media profiles. We all know that most employers will check out a prospective employee’s social media profiles. So, make sure your public social media profiles are in line with your professional image. Alternatively, make them private.
  2. Build your personal brand. Social media platforms are a great way to showcase your yourself, your experience and the skills and knowledge you possess.
  3. Do something for you every day.??Nothing big. A walk, a coffee, catch up with an ex-colleague for lunch.
  4. Be positive. Be grateful for where you are and what you have achieved to date. The other side of the coin to being positive is quit complaining.
  5. Learn a new skill.
  6. Update your CV.
  7. Make new connections and attend networking events.?
  8. Eat healthier at work and exercise at work. Why not organise walk meetings with your team? Or get up and stretch every hour.
  9. Declutter your desk/office as well as your digital filing cabinets. Clean out your email in-box too.
  10. Find a work mentor to propel your career forward. Set workplace goals together. With a trusted mentor, you can talk through any challenges you are having in your current role.
  11. Join a professional organisation or attend an industry conference.
  12. Measure your work-life balance. There needs to be a balance between work and your personal life or else you will just burnout. Additionally, create goals that reduce stress.?
  13. Last but not least, set SMART goals which are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely.

Let me know what your work resolutions are for 2024.
