New Year's Resolutions For Your 2022 Job Search

New Year's Resolutions For Your 2022 Job Search

It's the first Monday of 2022, and so it's time to think about New Year's resolutions.

Shake off the remnants of this weekend's celebration, grab a cup of coffee and let's get down to business for your 2022 job search.

Let's start with New Year's job search resolutions to consider if you want to find a great job fast in the 2022 job market.

Here are the best New Year's job search resolutions for 2022:

  1. Do More: Show employers that you'll do more on the job, by doing more in your job search than your competitors.
  2. Stop Sending Resume Templates To Automated Job Alerts: Most job boards and many career sites make it easy to apply for jobs listed in automated job alerts, by allowing you to send a standard resume template. These give you zero chance of getting in front of human eyes, because the chance of you matching enough criteria with a template are so low. It's why you feel like you're sending resumes into the wind.
  3. Customize More: The more you customize your resume, the better chance you'll get past the ATS and get seen.
  4. Realize That Being Qualified Isn't Enough: While there are 11M jobs being advertised now, there are also 90M+ job seekers competing for those jobs, as currently employed job seekers try to "trade up". Those worker shortages you hear about are for bar/restaurant, low wage hourly, front line manufacturing, trucking, and doctor/nurse positions - not the ones you're searching for. Because employers expect 4-5 times more qualified candidates than interview spots, being qualified isn't enough to get an interview, much less be chosen for hire.
  5. Apply Earlier: When you apply on job boards, you're already too late - The hiring manager has already chosen their top candidates. When you network to jobs that have already been posted (even internally), you're still too late. Instead of aiming for 4th place and hoping that 1-3 turn down offers, you need to apply earlier, so you'll have a chance as being considered one of the top candidates.

The good news is that I can show you what changes in your 2022 resume/interview/job search strategy will help you find a great job fast and how to incorporate them into your search.

During my next free webinar, I'll show you more of the best ways to beat job search ageism and avoid the biggest mistakes, to avoid age bias and find a great job fast. While we're at it, I'll teach you how to accelerate your job search in Q1 22, whether you're currently employed or in career transition, changing careers/industry/location, searching for remote jobs, or want to make your job search work faster.

This is the 3rd job market recovery cycle I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during recovering job markets. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recovery job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.

As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.

I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I see the mistakes that almost every age 40+ job seeker makes that make them lose great opportunities. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process. You're probably making similar mistakes, without realizing it, maybe blaming the results of these mistakes on employer age bias.

But I've been teaching job seekers to overcome ageism for 14 years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than appearing average. I'll show you how to beat ageism and find a great job during a bad job market by understanding employers' points of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.

(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been an active top national recruiter for the last 17 years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)

Let me show you what you can do now to change your resume/interview/job search strategies so you can beat ageism during a highly competitive job market. This webinar will help you if you're currently employed, between jobs, trying to change careers, industry or location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search, get a higher level position, or other tough to solve job search problems.
