New Year's Reflection

I’m reading a lot of post about courage, stepping out of comfort zone, going where you can challenge yourself, finding something new etc., which are all in sync with the new year or new decade at that!

The past year/s made me realize that courage is not always about stepping out of comfort zone, it could also mean expanding your comfort zone to the point of feeling comfortable being uncomfortable. We don’t always need a new environment to embrace a new challenge. We don’t need to gain just to be able to give. Lastly, success does not always mean “loud” achievements, it could also mean the silence of being at peace with yourself and being content with where you are at this very moment, what you have at this point, what you have achieved so far, knowing and believing that the best is yet to come.

My personal reflections and moments of solitude over the holiday break somehow gave me a different perspective of where I want to go, who I want to be, what I want to focus on or how I want to live life from hereon. In my sincerest form of prayer, for the first time, call it maturity or “adulting”, I didn’t come up with a wish list anymore, of the many things I want and of everything I could imagine. Rather, I only have four on my list, all of them would mostly depend on my effort, hard work, perseverance and focus and I’m just praying for HIS greater WILL to be done, for HIS best timing and strength to sustain me through.

Sharing my “notes to self” to guide me in 2020:

1.     Don’t be affected when someone tries to dim your light – always remember, the universe has an amazing way of letting your light shine through. Keep doing good and being good.

2.     Success is when opportunity meets preparation. While opportunities are not within your control, you define how much and how well you prepare. Therefore, your success is in direct proportion to your preparation.

3.     Keep helping people, whether at face value or by being a blessing in disguise. In your own little ways, aim to be the start of the domino where people help people.

4.     This too shall pass – whenever things are tough.
