New Year’s Greeting from MCU Foundation President George Chacon

Dear Friends of the MCU Foundation:

As 2024 comes to an end, I want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your support. The MCU Foundation marks the end of its first full year of operations with a track record of success. In this year, we launched programming in each of our focus areas: Basic Necessities, Homeownership, and Education, all to advance our mission of Building Generational Wealth and Eliminating Poverty – one New Yorker at a time.

This year, we distributed the first MCU Foundation scholarships to help bright young members to continue their educations, provided multiple basic-necessities programs to help members of our community get back on their feet after tragedies, and gave our first homeownership grants to enable New Yorkers to achieve their dream of owning a home of their own – thereby beginning the journey to generational wealth that so many have not had access to.

In the year ahead, we will maintain the programming that is having impact, including the next round of the MCU Foundation scholarships, and continuing grants for first-time homebuyers. In addition, we will find new and exciting ways to maximize the reach of our community giving, including partnering with a well-known NYC nonprofit to leverage our giving in the area of basic necessities. We look forward to announcing the partnership once it is finalized, so stay tuned!

None of this would have been possible without your, our donors and supporters. We take our responsibilities as stewards of the funds you donate to the MCU Foundation very seriously, and will continue to do our best to make sure they are spent to advance the Foundation’s mission.
