New Years Eve
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:
But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind,
And reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Philippians 3:13
Now that The Upcoming New Year is upon us,
Many of us are in the process of making New Year's Resolutions.
The Concept of Making New Year's Resolutions,
Is Commonplace in our Society,
But we all know how difficult it is to actually follow through.
Here’s a list of Bible Verses,
Designed to Help You More Specifically with your Approach,
To your New Year's Resolutions.
The Purpose of Providing Bible Verses,
Is to Establish a Biblical Grounding for The Goals You Set.
Moreover, Rather than Merely Compiling Bible Verses for New Year's Resolutions,
These are God’s Promises,
And Truth that Will Help Us All to Achieve Our Resolutions.
With all that said,
Here are some Bible Verses for New Year's Resolutions.
Mark 12:29-31
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, And with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: This is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this,
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
You've probably heard this particular verse numerous times,
But have you ever considered what it is really saying?
The concept behind these commandments is twofold.
One, loving God requires loving Him with all that you are.
The second is a direct result of the first: if you love God, you will love others.
The practical application here is very open,
Because this Bible verse and corresponding New Year's resolutions,
Take all the previous options into account.
All of the aforementioned,
New Year's resolutions and Bible verses,
Are essentially summed up through this passage.
The question then is whether or not,
We are going to make these New Year's resolutions,
Much more than annual attempts to better ourselves,
But daily convictions that stem from a true desire to love the Lord.
Matthew 14:22-23
And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side,
While he sent the multitudes away. and when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray:
And when the evening was come, he was there alone.
In this passage, Jesus understood the value of time spent with God in solitude.
If you do not currently devote time to being alone with God,
Make it a New Year's resolution to set aside some period of time to God.
You can spend this time in prayer, reading your Bible, journaling, singing a worship song, etc.
While this can definitely be a difficult New Year's resolution,
We have to remember that being in tune with God,
Requires of us to actually spend time investing in the relationship.
Colossians 3:13
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any:
Even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
When we make New Year's resolutions,
It is common that we first look to ways that we can improve ourselves.
Chances are, however, there are broken or severed relationships in our lives,
That we've given up on. Maybe you've been hurt by a loved one or close friend.
Consider making it a New Year's resolution to forgive someone,
Who's hurt you or seek forgiveness from someone whom you've pained.
Matthew 25:34-40
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me:
I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
The scripture continually reminds us,
To take care of the poor, the widowed, and the less fortunate.
Make it a New Year's resolution to consciously go out and help those in need.
Whether you decide to serve at a soup kitchen or visit the elderly,

This New Year's resolution is all about serving.
1st Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
Which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? Ever considered that God actually wants you to take care of your body?
The overarching theme with this passage.
Is we ought to honor God with our bodies through everything that we do;
Thus, taking care of bodies physically falls under this umbrella,
And ultimately is a matter of good stewardship.
If your New Year's resolution is to get in shape,
Use this verse to remind you that you're working to improve,
Something that you ought to make the best anyways.
Also, It would benefit us all to memorize the 10 commandments,
And turn them into New Year’s Resolutions.
Why not make a resolution you know that God,
Wants to be a priority in your life and learn more about HIS Word at the same time.
1. Exodus 20:3
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
I will put God first in all areas of my life. I will not allow money, family, fame,
Or any material object to become more important to me than the God I serve.
2. Exodus 20:4-5
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,
Or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them:
For I the Lord thy God am a jealous God,
Visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
I will not worship idols. I will not treat any statue as if it were God.
Neither will I worship a picture of Jesus, but rather Jesus himself.
3. Exodus 20:7
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain;
For the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
I will not use the Lord's name unless it brings him glory and honor.
I will not say "Jesus Christ" when I am angry or "Oh My God" when I am in shock.
4. Exodus 20:8
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Just as God rested on the seventh day so will I try and rest my body when needed.

I will obey my parents and give them honor.
I will treat my Father and Mother with respect.
6. Exodus 20:13
Thou shalt not kill.
I will never take the life of another human being,
Remembering that God is the only one who gives life,
And has the right to take it away.
7. Exodus 20:14
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
I will not cheat on my spouse by having an affair.
I will view my marriage as a ministry and remain true,
To the God that has joined me together with my mate in Holy Matrimony.
8. Exodus 20:15.
Thou shalt not steal.
I will not take anything that belongs to someone else.
I will treat other people's property with respect,
And always ask first if I want to borrow something.
9. Exodus 20:16
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
I will keep my tongue bridled and tell no lies.
I will never spread false gossip about someone else,
Or say anything that I don't know for a fact is true.
10. Exodus 20:17
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife,
Nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, Nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.
I will not harbor desire for the things other people have.
Even thou I may like what other people have,
I will not let it consume me to the point that I feel I must have it.
Happy New Year!
I Pray and Wish For You and Your Family THE BEST For The Upcoming Year Ahead!
