New Year, New You?

New Year, New You?

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. I am on a mission to help 10,000 GenX corporate professionals escape the box of the 9-5 grind. Each week I will share news, strategies and tactics to help you take control, find balance and NOT sacrifice your income. Links at the bottom for free resources

Is Your Life as Balanced as You Think it is?

Are you stuck in a rut? Are you done with the corporate rat race? Are you looking for what’s next???

If you answered yes, then this edition of the newsletter is for you.??

I want to share a process and the tools thatI use with potential escapees. Even if you don’t think you need to go through this exercise I think you will find it well worth your time.

It will be broken into 3 steps

  1. Your Life Balance Score
  2. Your Time Allocation
  3. Think about and identify what you really want.

NOTE: I can share PDF versions of all 3. Just mention in the comments or DM me on LinkedIn and I will share them.??

Life-Balance Scorecard:?

The first step is to take an inventory of where you are today. Each category should have a score between 1-10 with 1 being the lowest. Be honest with yourself.?

I still update my score every quarter. When I was in corporate my score was 24 my current score is 38. I am in a much better place but still have room for improvement

If you are in the 20’s it may be time for a change but cross reference this with your time allocation

?Where is Your Time Spent??

Take the time to complete the worksheet below. Again be honest with yourself. You can also start thinking about how much time you would ideally spend in each. You can always update

If you are still in corporate, there is a good chance that work will dominate this worksheet. This will serve as the baseline to measure your progress

What Do You Really Want?

Now that you have a general idea of where you are and where you want to go, take the time to think about what you want out of the next phase of your life. This is your wish list. It could be to earn $500k in revenue, work 2 days per week remotely and buy a house on the beach for your winters.?The more detailed, the better. This will help you set goals to achieve this list.?

I wish I would have done this a decade earlier

The feedback I receive from my clients is this is the most difficult and time consuming exercise. Also, it makes sense to include your spouse or partner’s “wants” as well. It helps when everyone is aligned on the future.

Don’t worry, it can always change and evolve as you get more comfortable.

What’s Next?

Now you can take a look back (Maybe I should have done this exercise first) at last week’s newsletter to review 4 potential paths to build the life you want. Link on the image
