A New Year Resolution - Growing at a Balanced Rate

It is again this time of the year where many of us take time to think about their life. A year ending and a new one starting. Hopes, wishes and dreams float back to surface and we all wonder why not all if not none are accomplished.
One way i like to look at my life is from an "age" growth perspective. Every year we are blessed to add one more year to our age or to our calendars. This, in terms of growth rate, means a growth of one unit (+1). If you are 27 and turning 28, this will be a growth rate of 4%. When you chart this growth of years, you will notice a declining growth rate while your age accumulates:
This declining growth rate, if it is in a business context can be extremely worrying. In fact we all hate it but this is not the end of the tunnel. A way for us to balance this declining rate, is to look at life from a Learning Curve perspective. Learning, in a sense, of receiving new knowledge and also sharing it with others. When this curve is added the same chart will appear more balanced:
This view is more reassuring, it looks like a big smile on the face of life. There are some things which are really growing.
Whatever my resolutions will be, for sure they will include Learning. Acquiring a new skill, developing an existing one, working to receiving a certificate, sharing my knowledge with those around me...definitely i will keep trying to balance years out, so when 2017 ends i could see that smile growing wider. Happy new year to all!
