New Year Re-Solutions
As we come to the end of the year, strangely but our minds are always wired to make a resolution at the end of the year, but whether we complete the same in the next year is only decided at the end of the next year.
I guess like business goals, on a personal level too, we need to focus more on tangible goals, easy, simple, and ones that we look forward to accomplish , which we do and can be accomplished.
So, we do need to keep them SMART, that means
S - Simple and Specific, concise and clear
M - Measurable and manageable to accomplish
A - Accountable, Achievable, and an absolute win-win
R - Relevant to our day-to-day lives
T - Time-bound with immediate focus on the benefits
But for this we not only need a plan for what to do, but also for what roadblocks that can come across along the way.The plan should be realistic , at the same time making room for mistakes, but at the end of the day, we should be able to reward ourselves for completing it, successfully with a spark for a positive change.
So, how do we prepare then?
- Mentally prepare for change
- Set a goal that motivates you
- Limit your goals to a manageable amount
- Be specific
- Break up bigger goals into smaller ones
- Write down your goals (most important)
- Share your goals with others
- Maybe use technology to remind yourself how much you need to achieve this goal
- Review your goal results regularly
- If you fall off track in between, get on back again, and quickly
And not to forget, if a mistake is made, own it and move on to the next thing. After all, a few mistakes shouldn't stop you from achieving your goal!
