New Year, New Opportunities, New Excitement.

New Year, New Opportunities, New Excitement.

Are you like me in that you get an almost giddy excitement about starting something new like a notebook or filling in activities on a calendar or even opening a new tube of toothpaste??

With a New Year comes that excitement about all that is to come:?the known, and even the excitement that is unknown.?2023 is a big year of new endeavors and new outlooks for me.

In the course of the last 2- 3 years, I’ve learned a lot about why I love my industry of incentive travel, hospitality meetings and events and what’s really important when it comes to company culture.?It reflects to the people who are so zealous and dedicated, and, working with people who also love what they do.?

Like so many, when things got tough, I toyed with the idea of leaving and trying something new, yet I never could make that jump.

But I had to figure out why.?What is holding me to this industry??

I realized it’s because of the because of the true love that we have for the work we do.?We aren’t curing cancer or building rockets. We can work long hours and don’t always get paid the most.?But what we are doing is creating experiences. And…Experiences talk.?They stay with us. And that is powerful.??And we are in the business of “Yes, and…” We are always anticipating next steps, plans B, C, to Z.?We are driven by ways to do more and provide those surprise and delight moments. Our work has us conjure up some magic to create memories. I don’t know that other jobs could offer this in this exact manner.?I find joy in bringing joy to others.?Hearing guests talk about amazing trips, great conferences, inspiring speakers and remembering very specific details that we specifically planned, make me proud and leave me wanting to do more!

In working with our industry partners, through strong partnerships and collaboration, alongside our clients, we find we are a part of a bigger picture that creates ROI and success for our clients and their attendees. I’ve often heard others outside our industry say “I don’t understand how you are so tight with your competitors.?Doesn’t that hurt your business?”?It’s quite the contrary and again a reason why our industry is special and I why I can’t see doing anything else.?It’s special.?This coming together, partnership and working for a common goal is what drives me and gets me excited about the work I do.

I’ve also learned that working in a company culture that holds the same values as me is really important to me.?When a company recognizes the insights of their employees as worthwhile, informative, and important, I know that synergy leads to additional collaboration and even bigger success.?Recognizing that we are in the business of people and experience; and recognizing that goes beyond the customer experience to the employee experience is vital. When leaders take this approach, the opportunities are endless…

?I thrive when I’m surrounded by supportive, communicative, understanding team members who work with an all-for-one mentality that allows the team to celebrate the wins and learn from the challenges as a group.?When voices are heard and employees feel a part of the purpose and the solution, good things happen.?Our industry is more than handshakes.?We hug, and we hug in a very genuine and sincere way. We truly care about it each other much beyond what’s on your business card.?The pandemic was devasting to our industry, yet it brought it us closer together and made us stronger.?That is unique and important as well.

Our industry also values industry association involvement, continuing education and two-way mentorship.?This investment in collective knowledge only makes us stronger, more resilient, and better poised for the future.?Whether I had a full-time job or not, my other “job” was has always been contributing and giving back.?The amount of new perspective I’ve gained from networking, listening, talking and sharing with others has given skills and insight that allowed me to understand things from a variety of viewpoints. It’s offered up new ideas when I thought I had considered them all.?This community of sharing and collaboration is principal to growth and again, another reason why I love being a part of this industry.

If you are nodding your head in agreement with anything I shared, I kindly ask that you keep me in mind for opportunities in your network.?Ideally, I am interested in a Global Sales role where I can serve a Brand Ambassador and help connect clients to my hotels, resorts or destinations. In the spirit of the new year, I’m open to exploring other roles that I haven’t considered yet if they could be a good fit.

If there’s an organization that needs a highly motivated team player with strong leadership skills, a proven track record of salesmanship and relationship management, let’s talk more!?If you need someone who can step in quickly, roll up her sleeve and get to work to quickly build rapport and lasting trust with clients and colleagues, I’m interested!?My goal is to ensure business opportunities through close collaboration with team members, partners and clients.??I’m driven by organizational skills, creativity and initiative to help my company achieve our goals together.?I’m excited to get back to work and make a difference in an industry I love.?

Thanks and here’s to a great 2023!
