The New Year is here: let's turn our wishes into resolutions.

For many of us, the night of December 31 to January 1 is a time of celebration with our loved ones. We wait impatiently for the 12 strokes of midnight to shout "Happy New Year".
At the risk of catching the Covid-19, which is lurking around us with the Omicron variant spreading like wildfire, we hug each other and wish each other health, happiness and prosperity. The most daring ones kiss each other in public, enough to make my grandmother turn over in her grave, thanking God that she didn't live long enough to witness such scenes. The world has changed since grandma...
Taking advantage of the 200 or 300% bonus offered by the phone operators, we rush to our phones to make a few calls to those who matter. To the others, we send SMS and WhatsApp messages and images forwarded hundreds or even millions of times; the mention "forwarded many times" is a clear sign that we do it for formality and not for duty. We take the opportunity to reconnect with that uncle or aunt we have stayed away from, from January 1st to December 31st.
The champions in this matter are the social network addicts. It's a contest with neither rules nor referees of who will post the most photos and videos on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Snapchat, and now even on our dear professional network LinkedIn.
The self-proclaimed winners are those who got the most likes or comments, even if it means biasing the results with their own likes and comments. ?
Anyway, I'm not teaching you something new.
But the best of the best is when people start making big resolutions for the new year, out of their imagination. And the worst of the worst is when they know from the start that they won't keep their word. After all, this is only a resolution to ourselves. And since we don't have to answer to anyone, we can even take the resolution to be a space passenger in one of the futuristic spacecrafts of SpaceX, the company of Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of Tesla, the #1 electric car company in the world.

But don't forget, we remain accountable to the most important person on earth: ourselves.?If we can disappoint that person, we can disappoint everyone else. So before making that New Year's big resolution, pause and ask yourself: is it worth having one for the sake of having it or will you really commit to making it happen?
Let's make no mistake: New Year's resolutions are important. The process allows us to learn from the past 12 months and look forward to the next 12.
My New Year's resolution has been the same for many years:
"To be a better version of myself every day".
What does this mean in practice? It's simple: learn something every day, no matter how small or insignificant.
And why does it matters? Because if we focus on learning just one single skill each year, by the end of the year we will become an expert in it.
And you: what is your New Year's resolution?

2 年Great resolution to have! Mine is to surrender - i.e. stop trying to control everything and trust the process! So interesting you've become a coach - me too! We should connect!
