New Year, New Goals, Same Mission

Reflecting on 2024, I'm struck by the importance of resilience and the power of human connection. Navigating the complexities of a remote team has been demanding, but the rewards have been immense. Traveling across West Africa has allowed me to forge deeper connections with our teams on the ground, strengthen our internal processes, and build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders.

Meeting with the President of Sierra Leone: Julius Maada Wonie Bio, the Chief Minister: Dr David Sengeh, and the Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone: Dr. Ibrahim Stevens was particularly inspiring. Their vision for economic growth and financial inclusion aligns perfectly with our own, and these conversations have provided valuable insights for our future expansion plans.?

One of the key highlights was undoubtedly the acquisition of two remittance companies, one in Europe and the other in Nigeria. Another major milestone was signing an agreement with Ria to process last-mile payments into mobile wallets. This partnership will greatly enhance access to financial services for our customers, and I am incredibly proud of this accomplishment.

Beyond the professional milestones, I've cherished the opportunity to continue my personal growth. Several books have served as a consistent source of inspiration this year, including Poor Charlie’s Almanack: The Essential Wisdom of Charlie Munger, Straight from the Gut by Jack Welch, and Multipliers by Liz Wiseman. Additionally, the Founders Podcast by David Senra has been an invaluable resource for knowledge and inspiration. I emphasize the importance of continuous learning to my team, and we regularly share insights and key takeaways as a group.

On a personal level, witnessing my children grow and thrive has been the greatest joy. My daughter recently beat me in a 200-meter sprint – a humbling experience, and a testament to the hard work she puts into her fitness!

2024 has been a year of significant growth and learning. The power of remittances in transforming lives in Africa keeps me motivated, and the opportunity to be part of the move towards a more digital ecosystem remains the core of my personal mission.

In 2025, I'm committed to deepening my understanding of the new countries we plan to enter while continuing to guide our company towards even greater success.
