New Year, New Content: A Writer's Guide to Maximizing Fresh Starts
Patricia Mae Estenoso
Creative Copywriter ?? Brand Storyteller ??Content Strategist ?? Content Writer??
While writing this article, I'm thinking of 100 ways I can be an amazing writer in 2025.
In my wildest dreams, I guess. Or maybe I'm not so crazy if I actually push through them.
The new year always brings that fresh new feeling, that "this is my year!" vibe. New vision board, new writing goals. You know what I mean? Well, you might be right, you might be wrong. We're the masters of our own destiny, after all. But in my experience, wishing and dreaming alone won't cut it. Gotta put in the work, even when you're not feeling it. (Unless you're super lucky and stumble into success, in which case, congrats!)
So, fellow writers, copywriters, and storytellers, here's how to ride that new year energy wave. And don't worry, even if the first 5 days have vanished, it's not too late!
Attack Your Writing Goal (Before It Attacks You!)
Imagine your writing goal failing. Seriously, picture it at this moment. Plan your perfect path to success, then try to tear it down. Identify all the ways it could go wrong. Sounds counterintuitive, but trust me, it's the best way to make sure your plan actually works!
Reverse Calendar: My Secret Weapon Against Getting Lost (Literally)
I have a terrible sense of direction. Even in our client's office, I get lost going to the washroom. The same washroom, every single time! To find my way, I visualize my steps from the last time. Same goes for writing. I plan my goals and visualize all the moments leading up to that ONE BIG MOMENT.
Do Something New! (My Confession: I Finally Wrote a Story)
What haven't you done in writing? Honestly, I hadn't written a story in ages. But I promised my bosses and our client I'd be more creative last year, so I jumped back into storytelling. I even did brand storytelling for Dell Technologies at GITEX GLOBAL 2024! (From digital to print, yes, it's all out there!)

Accountability Partners: My Anonymous Cheer Squad
Surprise! My accountability partners are anonymous Redditors and Threads users. (Don't get me wrong, I have amazing family and friends, but there's something empowering about connecting with fellow writers online.) We celebrate wins and bond over losses together.
Bonus: Steal Creative Energy (Like an Art Thief!)
You'll be surprised by how much writing I learned...FROM NOT WRITING! Most of the ideas I get are from visiting art exhibitions, musicals/concerts, design conferences, and food festivals. What's common about them? Every single event demands creativity.
Closing Note
Will I crush my writing goals this year? Fingers crossed!
The only thing I can control is my own discipline. Let's see what happens. Maybe next year, I'll be sharing a victory post (or a hilarious tale of epic failure).

Hi, I am Patricia!

I've always known that writing is a confidence game - and I agree that I should be losing all the time because I'm an anxious, sensitive person. But here's how I win and how you can, too!
