New Year Budget Reduction Headaches?

New Year Budget Reduction Headaches?

FGX3 and Financial benefits:

FOG in Sewer: Severn Trent independent report 2018 cites 12.5% saving on operational expenditure on affected sewerage/Pumping station systems. £3000 per annum on individual pumping stations with additional bonus of 11% power savings and zero flooding incidents.

Activated Sludge Aeration Expenditure – US food manufacturing case studies delivered 25-50% savings on aeration energy costs delivering $50,000 dollar return on total operational costs of $320,000 straight to the bottom line after accounting for chemical spend.

Phosphate Removal Coagulation Costs – Interesting Modeling below for a dairy plant

Cost Saving Feasability of FGX3 Proposition in a dairy processing operation

Aeration inefficiency levels had already been addressed by successfully installing Turbo blowers with Variable Speed Drives. The plant processes in excess of 550,000m3 of milk per annum. Aerobic wastewater treatment plant follows Anaerobic treatment and incorporates chemical dosing for phosphorus removal.

Potential for savings

The model came up with an 9% saving on aeration costs equating to $9K pa saving with the use of FGX3 enabling mixed liquors to be adjusted to 3000 mg/l and the dissolved oxygen set point to be dropped to 1.2 mg/l. Phosphate is removed by Alum dosing to a residual of 1ppm phosphate -  the relationship between Phosphate removal and Alum dosing is linear and based on experience the  use of FGX3 will reduce Phosphate in the effluent by 50% and the corresponding Alum dose drops by 50%. It is difficult to predict since the theoretical amount of Alum to remove Phosphate will vary from 0.5 to 15 times theoretical value on different plants.

The cost of disposal of sludge will decrease in line with findings from our past case studies and we would estimate a 30% saving,

In Summary we have a business case for FGX3 contributing to operational efficiency savings of greater than $40,000 pa at an effective dose of 1ppm this amounts to greater than 11% of the chemical spend:

Aeration power reduction $9000

Alum coagulant saving $55,000

Sludge to land reduction $35,000

Cost of FGX3 $55,000

TOTAL MODELLED SAVING = $44,000   8.8%
