New Year Brings Exclusive Distribution Deal For Alocit...

Multinational industrial supply groups Alocit International and IEV Group have signed an agreement for IEV to operate as the exclusive distributor for Alocit in 21 countries in the Asia Pacific region.

The coming together of IEV and Alocit enables Alocit to increase its presence in the Asia Pacific region and to improve its regional support with better logistics and pricing.

IEV provides expert asset integrity management and technologies to both upstream and downstream oil and gas and its related industries.

Its history dates back to 1986 with the invention of a single technology to enhance structural integrity of offshore structures, the “ocean-powered” marine growth control (“MGC”) solution by its founder and current Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Do.

IEV Holdings Limited has developed into a multinational group of companies with a global business with a large network of distributors and foreign subsidiaries in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and India, serving various industries with its range of integrated energy solutions using both upstream and downstream oil and gas disruptive technologies and blue ocean strategies.

IEV has partnered with Alocit International, to distribute Alocit’s unique coating system that can be applied on both steel and concrete substrates, in wet, oily, and even sweating conditions.

The specialised coating system can be applied on both dry and wet conditions such as splash zone areas of offshore structures and marine vessels

Alocit Coatings are engineered to adhere to the most challenging substrates and can be easily applied using airless spray, brush or roller system and can even be applied sub-sea. This environmentally friendly coating, which has been widely used by diving companies worldwide in the past 40 years, resists to MIC and ALWC and has been proven to withstand the test of time. Environmentally friendly, with no VOCs, but inherently able to retard marine growth, Alocit has proven itself on projects around the world.

The signing of the agreement is Alocit Chairman, Arthur Haycox’s final contribution to the company as he retires from day to day operations after more than a 40 year association with Alocit and sister company Enviropeel.

His roles will be shared between Alocit International’s Technical Director, Simon Haycox, UK General Manager Alocit, Cathy Frost, and Group Technical Manager, Syahrel Hashim.

Alocit Coatings has been in the industry for over 40 years with a track record ranging from applications on offshore and onshore oil and gas structures to marine vessels, tunnels and jetties, ROVs, and pipes and piping.

A wide range of case studies and success stories are available on demand. With an extensive track record also comes an impressive clientele ranging from top oil and gas operators such as Shell and Petronas, and government agencies including the US Navy.

Chris Do said IEV had witnessed the performance of Alocit Coatings on a 2240-steel jetty pile at a refinery in Vietnam in 2007. More than 25,000m2?of splash-zone areas of jetty piles were coated using a combination of painters/blasters and divers. Ten years later at the same jetty, inspection carried out under and above water indicated 95 per cent of the Alocit Coating remained intact and continues to offer anti-corrosion protection to the jetty piles.

He said the product’s outstanding performance had made the distribution agreement an attractive proposition.

“Alocit is a versatile coating system that offers long-term protection for assets that operate in the harsh marine environment. This solution will be an integral part of IEV’s Corrosion Control Solutions and its positioning in the vast corrosion control market in the Asia Pacific region. Coupled with the company’s pursuit of robotics engineering, IEV aims to deliver safe and cost-effective fabric maintenance solutions for all assets, fixed, floating or moving, that operate at sea.

“An intensive R&D program is also ongoing to enhance the fouling retardation property of the existing Alocit underwater coating system, which will have a positive impact on the CO2 emission of shipping industry, which is currently account for at least 2.5 per cent of the world’s total CO2 emission.”

Alocit has been involved in developing marine growth retardant systems for more than 20 years since initial trials in Portsmouth in the UK in 1999 first revealed the product’s marine growth retardant qualities, and subsequently its capacity for sub-sea application.

While increasing raw material costs and logistics issues around the world have had an impact on Alocit an increased willingness during the pandemic by clients to be supported by technology like Zoom has been beneficial.

Greater focus on the environmental impact of coatings has also been a boost for Alocit which has impeccable environmental standards and can, and has been, used in sensitive ecological environments.

IEV is the Exclusive Distributor of Alocit Coatings in Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Brunei, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Russia.
