New Year, New Board Expertise

Last year, we shared our belief that in order to help solve some of the biggest challenges in the global food system, we needed to tackle the sustainable meat and seafood problem. So we announced our intention to create and commercialize real meat made from cells instead of live, confined animals but without many of the undesirable traits of conventional animal agriculture.

We’ve made a lot of progress and continue to believe that our world-class team and technology can overcome key hurdles facing the nascent sector and bring a new and better kind of meat to market. But to do that, we need to work with and learn from some of the largest players in the food industry.

That’s why I’m thrilled to announce a major development for JUST: Pedro de Andrade Faria, who most recently served as Global CEO of BRF S.A., has agreed to join our Board. Pedro, now an executive partner of Tarpon Investimentos, brings with him a wealth of experience in food and finance, overseeing one of the world’s biggest global food companies.

Pedro is a welcome addition to an already impressive roster of Board members: longtime DuPont executive Jim Borel; HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal, founder and CEO of KBW Ventures; brand-builder and environmentalist Larry Kopald; former R.J. Reynolds/Nabisco food safety expert Cliff Coles; and legendary oceanographer Sylvia Earle.

We have big things to accomplish in 2018 and we’re eager to do this together.
