New Year, New Beginnings

As 2024 has progressed (can't believe the first 7 weeks of the year are about to be over), it has been very interesting to see the rapid developments in the field of AI (GenAI, Computer Vision, ML, RAG, etc.), i.e., the latest technology that is looking to disrupt our lives. In the last year or so, AI has already had an impact on how we work and live our lives today and it is going to fundamentally change our lives in ways that we have not even thought about yet. This brings with it some major issues that need to be addressed i.e., consumption of power by data centers that process all the information generated by AI, water consumption to keep those data centers online, need for critical minerals to build the AI chips and most importantly the loss of jobs due to AI are just to name a few.

Along with the technological advancements, we are today facing a monumental challenge when it comes to climate change and the push to transform the power grid (think integration of DERs such as battery storage, wind farms both on-shore and off-shore, solar, nuclear, etc. as well as Electric Transportation which includes cars and other modes of transport) and energy supply in a sustainable fashion where both businesses as well as residential customers are able to receive reliable power to run their day to day lifestyle.

As a professional who is in the electric utility industry and is working with their clients in implementing latest technologies that address the above challenge, myself and all my peers in the industry who are working in this space are in a unique place to not only to support our clients on their current needs but can also work with them to shape the utilities of the future that can power not only their homes/places of work but help them interact the latest and greatest technologies such as AI without disruption.

With that said, I am launching my newsletter on LinkedIn where I will be sharing all the news stories that are impactful to this community, latest developments in the world of tech as well as electric utilities, along with my own point of view on where I think we are headed as an industry and deep dives on specific topics that are of interest to me (and I am sure you all as well!). Now, some of you who have been following me will ask the question "Abhinav, I thought you were publishing blogs on your company website. What happens to that?". Well my dear friend, to you I say, Firstly, thank you for being a regular reader of my blogs, Secondly, the official Grid Transformation blog will stay and will both carry content that I will be publishing here on my newsletter as well as additional information about activities and latest news pertaining to the company.

I am excited to get this off the ground and am looking forward to both feedback as well as engagement from my industry peers. Feel free to message me on LinkedIn or respond to my posts for any additional questions/queries. I will be more than happy to engage.

GridTalk will be out with its' first official newsletter soon. Till then, be safe and stay curious!
