New Year, New Art

New Year, New Art

‘New Year, New Art’ is a vibrant show of sculpture, prints and drawings by twenty

artists, including both well-known and less-familiar names.

It's great to see these bright and colourful works in the gallery to help chase away the

Winter blues!

Renowned ceramic artist Merete Rasmussen is showing at Gallery Pangolin for

the first time. Strong and bold, yet fragile at the same time, the dynamic, flowing

forms of ‘Blue Loop’ and ‘Grey Loop’ seem almost to defy gravity.

Local artist Lorraine Robbins has produced two of her characteristic finely-detailed

drawings specially for the show. Delicately suggestive, ‘Pink I’ and ‘Pink II’ are open

to interpretation.

Other highlights include a bright green, 1.8 metre tall sculpture, ‘The Green Tree’

by Almuth Tebbenhoff and Icelandic artist Petur Bjarnason’s ‘Bird Vessel’ - both

reminders that Spring is on the way.
