Happy New Year from all of us at Texian Geospatial. This month we are highlighting a release from Eos Positioning Systems featuring the new Skadi Series of GNSS receivers and a video featuring a utilities efforts in creating a digitized asset model in only over a year.
Highlight of 2024: INTRODUCING THE SKADI SERIES
FURTHER YOUR DATA COLLECTION IN THE FIELD
The new Skadi series of GNSS receivers by Eos Positioning Systems introduces two new features to aid in field data collection simplicity and productivity. The Skadi Tilt Compensation allows users to capture data with a tilted range pole, meaning no more wasted time leveling during field collection. The second feature, Skadi smart handle, gives field users two added bonuses. First, a physical range pole is not required, and vertical measurements are collected using LiDAR technology.

AN ELECTRIC UTILITY SIMPLIFIES DATA COLLECTION IN WISCONSIN
An article by Eos Positioning Systems, presents a problem in eastern Wisconsin. Utility workers struggled keeping an ever-growing infrastructure system up to date using maps that were unreliable and no longer current. Using an asset management system coupled with high accuracy data collection from Eos Positioning Systems, Sheboygan Falls Utilities was able to create a cloud-based utility model in only a year’s time. This solution resulted in field crews knowing 80% of the factors for an outage before heading out to the repair, increasing efficiency.

A DIGITAL FUTURE
LEARN WHAT VALUE A DIGITAL UTILITY ASSET SYSTEM PROVIDES
A digitized utility asset system can give many benefits, but the three main highlights are presented below. A utility asset system, collected digitally, gives users the additional option of having your utility modeled in a cloud hosted system. This gives end users the ability to view and edit utility data on the fly with any device such as a phone or tablet. With a digital hosted system your organization now has the potential to scale up or down as needs arise. Lastly, a hosted GIS system promotes data driven decision making, allowing for further analysis of the utility.
