NEW YEAR 2024 RESOLUTIONS
Come the NEW YEAR most of us make grand resolutions. Some decide to lose 20 kg.? Some to get the promotion to Manager or CEO whatever and some to buy a new house. After a few days or weeks, the resolutions weaken, then fade away. Why? One of the reasons is that most of these self-promises are Goals. They are destinations and not planned journeys.
This year let us make 10 New Year Resolutions which will transform our lives. Behaviors done regularly become Habits which in time become Character.
1. MAKE A MENTOR.
If you are fortunate to have a boss or superior who is a natural leader then follow him - in his way of Thinking and Actions. If you don't have such a boss then follow a Virtual Guru.?Gurus who will guide you on the RIGHT path.
SIMON SINEK. JIM ROHN. MEL ROBBINS.
Follow only 1. Each has their unique style so having too many mentors at one time can be confusing. Read their articles / books. Listen to their PODCASTS. Listen to their interviews.
Do what they suggest. Start in small ways. As you gain confidence you will achieve great things.
At least you will be a FEW STEPS HIGHER. AND BETTER.
2. READ THESE 5 BOOKS.
Broaden your thinking. These books can change your whole philosophy of life. Shape your thinking after rereading these books.?
a) RICH DAD POOR DAD by Robert Kiyosaki
b) WHAT THEY DID NOT TEACH YOU IN BUSINESS SCHOOL by Mark McCormack
c) THE EFFECTIVE EXECUTIVE by Peter Drucker
d) IACOCCA an Autobiography by Lee Iacocca
e)? WHO MOVED MY CHEESE?? by Spencer Johnson.
3. WALK 5000 STEPS A DAY
Download a free Step Counter app and start today. Brisk walking will not only circulate more blood to the body but also the brain making it more alert.?
4. DEVELOP A 2nd SKILL
If you are in the Battery field develop a deep knowledge about cars, If in Software then build an expertise in Hardware. It will open new avenues and it will keep your interest in your job alive.

5. START SAVING
Salaries are never enough. That is because our needs seem to expand with our incomes. How much should you save? Arnold Schwarzenegger was once asked how he knew how many pushups are required. He said ' I start counting when it starts to pain.' Saving is like that. If you're earning 90K per month, saving Rs.500 is useless. As soon as your salary is credited, make a fixed Deposit of 10%. You will find you can manage just fine. Make it a habit. Compounding (interest) is Magic. Warren Buffett said this, not me.
Now let's look at 5 which we SHOULD AVOID DOING
1. AVOID NEGATIVE PEOPLE
If your companions are always complaining about your boss or about working conditions then avoid their company. They will demoralize you.
2. AVOID COMPARING YOUR SALARY TO YOUR WORKLOAD
Remember that the more challenging jobs you do the more you are developing your own skill and knowledge. These will be of immense help when you are promoted or apply for another job.
3. AVOID ANY POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS IN THE WORKPLACE
Ideology should not be mixed with professionalism. Great Power and Great Wealth rarely come without exploitation and manipulation. It's naive to blindly follow paper heroes. Many of those praised one day are exposed and vilified the next day.
4. AVOID CRITICIZING COLLEAGUES
Talking bad about your fellow workers is a sign of immaturity and insecurity. If your boss is experienced he will realise what you are doing and you will fall in his estimation.
5. AVOID SHOWING OFF
Wear clean but simple clothes. Avoid boasting about your lifestyle or parties or knowledge. Few people will appreciate it and many will avoid you. Networking is important to build teams. Likable persons form teams easily.
Hope you Incorporate these 10 New Year Resolutions in your life immediately. Transform your life for a better tomorrow.
