There were so many fantastic take-aways from The New World New Challenge Day 1! It was transformational to say the least and many lessons were learned in a few short hours. When the session was coming to an end, I looked down at the clock and couldn't believe my eyes that hours had past which felt like mere minutes. What were some of my key takeaways from the session? The first was, the quality of my life is the quality of my emotions. That seems like a rather simplistic notion but at the end of the day there is a lot of truth in this statement. Tony went on to teach that the way we measure out lives is based on our internal emotions. You could have billions and be an emotional mess or live pay check to pay check and be one of the happiest people in your community. It's easy to criticize the mastermind legend by taking a pessimistic view on this last lesson, but remember he wasn't always a wealthy world renowned entrepreneur. He once had a basic job with a regular bank account balance like the rest of us. The only difference is, he took MASSIVE action and believed in his abilities to change the world and more importantly, the lives of others.

He went into the challenges he faced in business as a result of the global pandemic. Even the mighty Tony Robbins faces challenges and needs to follow his own protocols to re-claim the level of production the world has come to expect and anticipate from him and his organizations. He spoke about moving through the stages of denial - anger - sadness - loss and finally depression. At this point he mentioned that you cannot manage what you do not measure. Robbins discussed that we are living in an "attention society" not what is commonly known as the "information society". This is of course as a result of an overwhelming abundance of information thrown at us constantly in our daily lives. The next component I would like to summarize was one of my personal favorites on the day. Tony mentioned something that will change my perception for the rest of my life. He said that "your biggest problem is you think you shouldn't have one". This statement on the surface seems simplistic but it turns out that problems are a sign of life. If we don't grow we die. If we don't have problems, we aren't challenging ourselves to new levels and greater versions of ourselves.

Following this section Robbins discussed 3 things that occur during times of extreme stress. 1) You discover how strong you really are 2) Who your real friends are 3) immunity to future challenges. To execute on overcoming massive challenges which occur in your life or business, you require these two skills. You need to determine when the true breakthrough occurred. Specifically, at what moment in time did you overcame the toughest of challenges. When did you change your lifestyle when it comes to dieting, taking care of the house better, quitting smoking or whatever the difficult challenge was that you successfully overcame. When did everything change? Overcoming this one big challenge seemed impossible until at some point you thought, this is what I need to do to push past this hurdle. It was the point when you had the courage to overcome it. Courage is not to be necessarily translate into fearlessness. The point here is, what was it that triggered your big breakthrough? Something did. Write down a few of those situations and start to identify any potential patterns that may exist in them to begin to developing a formula to do this systematically and repetitively.

The questions you need to answer to begin this process are: What was the process? What triggered you to take action to do it? What was the specific moment when you had the breakthrough? What made is possible to do it? (Skill, strategy, influence, belief) What emotion, person, belief caused you to do it? I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Tony Robbins for doing this program for all of us as do hundreds of thousands of other participants. It's a fascinating experience that will not likely occur ever again from Tony's basement while his new studio is being re-constructed to increase capacity.
