The New World: Hidden in plain sight, beyond the chaos, the New World is already here

The New World: Hidden in plain sight, beyond the chaos, the New World is already here

"The best way to predict the future is to design it." – Buckminster Fuller

If you are reading this, you are likely like me. You believe that a shift is happening—that old systems are dying around us, and a new world is being born as we speak. But the truth is, it’s already here. I’ve seen it. I’ve been there.

"But José, all I see is chaos, war, and division."

Yes, if you tune into the media or the internet, it’s easy to believe that. If you are a creative person struggling to monetize your talent, things can feel challenging. If you are a parent worried about the world your kids will inherit, it’s more than worrisome.

But let me tell you a story of what I have witnessed on my journey.

Everywhere I’ve been—Lisbon, San Juan, Santo Domingo, Brooklyn, Cairo, San Jose (Pura Vida), Bucharest, London, Paris, Dubai, Panama City—from Mexico to LA, from hotspots to up-and-coming areas, I’ve seen one thing:

Creativity and art. People (Young and old.), driven by creativity and an entrepreneurial, communal spirit, creating new businesses, new ideas, new possibilities.

Bucharest

Bucharest: A young fashion designer in her shop, surrounded by new restaurants and coffee shops, told me this: “Here, we have two cultures—our elders, who come from a Soviet-era mentality and are gray, and the creative class, who see so many possibilities in our city.”

San José: Designers creating new spaces and experiences for clients, both domestic and in the U.S., with fire and sophistication.

PRIMO - BARRA DE BARRIO @primodonceles

Mexico: Artists, gallerists, fashion designers, designers, developers, bar owners—all collaborating to build community and businesses together.

Panama: Filmmakers, artists, restaurateurs, designers, illustrators, lawyers, developers—creating, striving to build new models, new careers, new experiences, new stories for Latin America.
