Topic: A NEW WHAT?
Bible Reading:
Ezekiel 36:16, 25-27
"Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying...
"Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
"And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."
LESSON:
No matter how dirty or sinful we are, God promised He will sprinkle clean water on us to wash us from all our filthiness. Please, note here that the word of God is the clean water (John 17:17).
God said He will not only wash away or forgive us our sins but will also give us "a new heart" and "a new spirit".
Heart is the centre of a man. That is his reasoning faculty. That is where decisions emanate from. A person's attitude is a reflection of his heart. So, for God to make a man new, his heart must be renewed.
Three things constitute a whole being and these are soul (heart), spirit and body. Of course, a new heart and a new spirit will produce a new body already sprinkle with "clean water". That's entirely a new man.
God wants to make us a new creature. That was and is still His plan.
Our "stony" hearts cannot fit into God's purpose for our lives. You know what stones are; don't you? Stones are hard, unyielding and unfruitful. God promised He will give us "heart of flesh" which will enable us to do His will.
Do you want God to make you a whole new being with Godlike characters? We all like new things like new car, new house, new office and so on. Is that not so? But nothing can be compared to enjoying new life in God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
PRAYER LINE:
Oh God remove from me the stony heart of disobedience. Give me a new heart and a new spirit today in Jesus name.
