NEW this week from Learning Data!
ICYMI: Learning Data with Maven Analytics is a BRAND NEW Medium publication where our community can share their knowledge and find even MORE great content from Team Maven!
Each week we’ll be sharing a round-up of the awesome content you may have missed.
New from Dakota:
“Passion for your work matters.
It's been a minute since I had an opportunity to dive into long-form content, and I was a little nervous putting this out into the world (I am my own harshest critic). But it's work that I love, and I'm so excited that I was able to take one of my passions (mental health advocacy) and contribute to my company in a meaningful way.
As someone who has personally experienced job burnout more than once due to toxic work culture, I can honestly say: the symptoms of career fatigue are not something to ignore.”

New from Lauren:
“I'll admit, I used to get frustrated when writing SQL queries.
I would write something like this:
SELECT
employee_name
, (salary + bonus) AS total_comp
FROM employees
WHERE total_comp > 100000

And then get annoyed when I inevitably ran into errors. Me being me, I had to figure out why.
? Enter: the SQL order of execution. ?
Learning about how queries are executed has made my own ability to write queries so much stronger and has allowed me to troubleshoot and debug queries without running to coworkers (or ChatGPT).”

New from John:
“If you've heard people talk about the importance of data cleaning but have been lacking examples, this one is for you.
Here's a concrete walkthrough critiquing a project completed by one of our students, Damon W.
I wanted to give Damon's project a nod because I loved the critical thinking skills he put on display.
I also thought the rest of the data community might benefit from seeing some solid data validation work in action.
Check out a walkthrough reviewing Damon's work in the first comment ??
Awesome work on this Damon. Thanks for being willing to put yourself out there to set a great example for others!”
