“What's the role of online learning companies like Chegg and Maven Analytics in a world where students can learn from ChatGPT?

Totally valid question, and it had me a little spooked last week.

So I put ChatGPT to the test.

Could it fulfill the role of an instructor/tutor and help someone learn data analysis from scratch?

Here are some of the specific things I dove into...

1) Could ChatGPT come up with a high-level learning plan? Would it contain the right topics? Would it be sequenced correctly?

2) Could ChatGPT build a day-by-day learning plan based on how much time a student could spend?

3) Could ChatGPT provide more detail for each day's lessons? Enough to make the lessons actionable learning sessions?

4) Does ChatGPT have a good sense of how long it would take someone to learn the skills to become a data analyst?

5) Does ChatGPT recommend using ChatGPT as a learning solution for someone who wants to become a data analyst?

It was a good exercise.

I'm left feeling a bit less concerned than I was, but also very intrigued at how we might incorporate ChatGPT and other AI tools into our own learning experience at Maven.”
