New ways to work and beat COVID!

I do not think I will ever be a fan of delivering training via Teams, Zoom or whatever other facilities exist. I long to be back in a lecture theatre or training room. I want to abandon the “luxury” of my study bedroom and get back to the world of trains and hotels. Even problematical railway timetables and some Fawlty Tower accommodation previously experienced does not deter me. The call of the wild?

However, despite my feelings it has been gratifying thus far to see from feedback on a range of technical and soft skills training courses delivered virtually that my misgivings are not visible to participants. And that is how it should be. It is not about me. It is about them!

So, I have taken the opportunity of lockdown to revamp 10 of my normal training room courses making them suitable for delivery online via Teams or Zoom. Pilots have proved successful. It has been hard work reconciling training room content to online delivery. But actually, great fun!

Meeting my self-imposed target of fitting each of the 10 courses into two separate but linked three-hour sessions was the biggest challenge but so far so good!

What a mixture has appeared! My own Lancashire hotpot.

  1. Charities Act and Corporate Governance
  2. Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
  3. Equality Laws and Diversity Issues
  4. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR)
  5. Modern Slavery Act
  6. Public Speaking and Presentations
  7. Recruitment and Selection
  8. Train the Trainer
  9. Volunteers and the Law
  10. Welfare Benefits – Major Focus on Universal Credit

Common Arrangements – The Ten Courses: -

  • Are presented in two linked sessions either back-to-back in one day or any chosen calendar sequence.
  • Are supported with handouts and/or toolkits as appropriate to the subject.
  • Come with a 12 month after care service when you can contact the trainer by e mail for further information or support.
  • Work best with a cohort sized between 2 to 14.
  • Will be evaluated electronically.
  • Signpost sources of further information and support

 Upwards and onwards!

I now have 12 other titles in preparation including: -

  1. Active Citizenship UK
  2. Care Act
  3. Community Groups – Planning and Sustaining
  4. Defensible Documentation
  5. Employment Law
