Allow Flexibility in Your Plan

The way we plan our goals, achievements, and big W's all seem to have something in common... the pressure of the clock. "I just want to be successful, married, and to have 3 children by 30". We try to gain as much success as possible, in what can seem like a suffocating time frame.

Something that can help keep us moving forward towards goals, even when plans go terribly wrong, is taking the pressure of worrying about time off of our plates. Instead, planning with more understanding of ourselves and what we need. The way that we are able to keep moving forward is by allowing ourselves to change the due date.

Allow your plans to be flexible and yourself to change course. Life would be boring if we just made one plan and stuck to it forever. It's time to gain more discernment in your decisions, partnerships, and tactics. Figuring out what you don’t want helps to show you what is truly valuable to you.

How Do You Go About Planning?

You have a goal in mind, what’s the first thing that you do? Do you write it down? Do you tell your friends? Do you create a mood-board? The next time you’re working on a new plan be mindful of your process. See if there are any tweaks you can make here. Maybe you need to learn to plan for more breaks or maybe you did so good that next time you want to plan even crazier goals.

Companies with employees can also utilize this information to help with the development of their staff. Offering more leniency, especially around the holidays, to your staff can be crucial to lowering employee churn rates. Allow your staff to be flexible in their milestones at work and in their career.

Before you begin planning, remember that however, this goes it was supposed to. You are doing your absolute best and that’s all that matters. Don’t feel bad if you don’t get the exact results you want. Failures are necessary, they’ll teach us much more than success ever can.
