Hey App Marketers,
How are you guys doing?
Guys, I have been much busy lately as I took a break from Freelancing and Job and reverted back to reading a lot of books and come up with legit ideas to craft strategies that can boost the in-app experience of our ever beloved mobile app users.
While sure I plan to share all the things I have learned with you in a short while, today, I am going to talk about a new service by Amazon that can help you increase your conversions and convince your users to stay longer in your apps or games and buy more.
Today's #MobileMarketing article is going to be so much fun!
So without further ado, let's start.
But why should you use this tool?
Have you ever felt that it has become increasingly difficult to convince your users to stay in your games for longer periods of time, come back everyday, or spend more money so you can build more games or apps for them?
Well, honestly, this is every marketer's nightmare. With over two million apps in the Play Store and nearly the same number on the Apple App Store, users now have a lot of choices. They can easily find an alternative to every app that is somehow providing a great value but lacks on some level.
For example, if you are looking for an absolutely awesome QR code scanner on the App Store, you will find that almost 85% of the high quality apps comes with a Freemium model. Freemium is where the app is initially offered as free and later when the user wants to access all the features, the app offers them for a price.
However, if a user is not interested in buying a subscription or in-app purchase, he or she simply has to launch the App Store again and find an absolutely free QR code scanner which isn't hard to find as Adobe offer a free QR scanner with almost all the main features for free. So convincing users to buy a subscription or IAP has become really difficult for us marketers.
But what if you can motivate the user with enticing offers to subscribe to your app? What if you can offer them their favorite gifts in return for a subscription or any other desired action? What if you could offer them a bigger subscription for half the price in the first month and then as long as they are retained--you will keep receiving the subscription in full?
That would be awesome right? But is it really that easy? Well, let's find out.
What is AMAZON MOMENTS?
Amazon Moments is basically a tool by Amazon (of course) that can be used to incentivize and reward your users upon completing a desired action. It basically offers the products available on Amazon to reward your users when they complete an action within your game or app.
Your user can enjoy thousands of products which you can choose and offer to them. I have read that toys, electronics, and apparels are known to be the best offers to the users.
For example, if you are worried that your user never completes Level 29 and deletes the game right before the level where he or she would need to buy some extra lives, gems, or any in-app currency to move on, you can simply offer them an Amazon $15 Tee-shirt if they will complete the level or make a purchase.
But how much money worth of gifts should you offer?
Well, let's find out.
Calculate the LTV of your users before using AMAZON MOMENTS
This is crucial for you to survive.
If you will just install the SDK and start offering your user hefty rewards without knowing the LTV first, you may end up needing to file a bankruptcy not too long after.
Yup. While it sure sounds good to legally incentivize your users, it can prove to be massively destructive for your brand or company's finances if you don't do it smartly.
You see, a customer—or in our case, a "user"—only buys your app or game if he finds it worthy of his or her money. You can offer them the cheapest offers but if he doesn't find the app useful, chances are, he is not only going to delete it, but he may also leave a negative review.
But on the other hand, there will be the 20% users who would get engaged with your game, play it daily and even buy the extra lives. You need to make sure that you are calculating the amount and times of purchases these users make.
For example, a user downloads your game, plays it until level 29 and then makes a purchase of $5. If he is satisfied with the purchase, he will do it again and this time may be faster. So if he makes 4 purchases in 2 months, he gives you $20 in 60 days. may be then he gets bore and move on to another game.
Now, if you know that the LTV of your target customer is $20, you can offer him a $5 or $10 gift from Amazon to increase the frequency of his spending. You can also make him stay in your app by giving him these credits at the 4th purchase after which the user—as we know—will drop your game.
But without knowing the LTV, you may end up offering too high or too low value gifts that may drive either your profits or customers away.
How to use AMAZON MOMENTS?
Amazon Moments is a multi-platform service. You can use it on your website, android and/or iOS app and Amazon platforms.
To use it, you will need the help of a developer. Just ask him to go to Amazon Moments Developer's site, download the SDK and then integrate it into your apps.
Once done, you can choose the way you would want your users to interact with the Amazon Moments. You can offer a direct Amazon Sign up—which is what I recommend, or you can use from any of the two other options from the list.
You can also design a web view page of your own to show the Amazon products but that will simply cost you massive amount of time, energy, and money. So I would suggest that you should stay with Amazon Moment's native SSO (Single Sign Onboarding).
Once done, you can simply sign into the tool, add your desired action you want the users to complete and add your target CPA. Make sure to calculate the LTV and add at least 25% of the amount as the CPA.
The BIG conclusion:
Well, now you have a lot of power in your hands. A new tool to conquer your competitors and serve your users in the best way. I myself have just started with Amazon Moments but I'll keep on sharing the results of any experiments I run on my apps using the service.
Meanwhile, make sure to not offer too much as it will drive your profits away and at the same time, don't offer really cheap products that will only demotivate your users from completing any action.
