The New Warehouse Weekly Vol 7

What are the top KPIs for a warehouse manager?

We discussed this in length on Sam Gupta 's live for WBSRocks this week. There were many great insights and perspectives on this from the panelists.

Here are my thoughts on the top ones to manage:

  1. Safety - always measure safety metrics. From a near miss to a recordable incident. Everything should be tracked in some way.
  2. Inventory accuracy - my belief is that inventory is the backbone of the operation. If your inventory is off it will cause a ripple effect throughout the operation which will ultimately get down to your customer. It slows you down and it drives down satisfaction. Pay close attention to this number.
  3. Quality - you can ship 1,000 orders but if 100 of them are wrong you only really shipped 900. Your customer's satisfaction is dependent on getting the right product, right quantity and damage free. Drill down as far as you can in your quality numbers to fix reoccurring problems.
  4. Employee retention - getting people in the door is tough these days. You need to keep them in the door and you should be measuring how well you are doing so. Use this number to drive improvements in the employee experience.

What KPIs would you add?
