Innovation is certainly a word that is tossed around a lot lately and rightfully so with the rapid evolving technology we see not only in our industry but in the world in general. It seems that every week there is something new that is making big changes to the way we do business or even just go about our daily lives. It is so much innovation that it can be quite hard to navigate and find the right solution.
A perfect example of this is attending a show like MODEX where you are surrounded by robots and automation. How can someone navigate this and make the right decision for their operation?
In recent episodes of the podcast, I've discussed how companies like PepsiCo and Maersk approach innovation. While the word innovation may lend itself to going after the latest technology out there, the overall feedback from these episodes was to go after the solution that solves the problem at hand and not the shiny object. This is a powerful message as it can be hard to stay focused and not get distracted by the latest and greatest.
As you approach your next innovate move make sure you are looking at the problems you currently have and solve for those. Maybe the answer is not the most "innovative" solution but it is the one that pushes you forward.
Have a great rest of the week!
