OpenAI plans to introduce a new way to use the multimodal GPT-4 with access to all tools without switching and with expanded document analysis capabilities.
Screenshots shared by several ChatGPT Plus users on X show new PDF and document analysis capabilities and an “All Tools” feature.
“All Tools” allows users to access all GPT-4 features without having to switch between different functions.
This development is seen as a significant advance that pushes the boundaries of generative AI capabilities as it goes beyond text-based queries.
Users can now upload an image and ask DALL-E 3 to create a response, adding a new dimension to their workflow.
All ChatGPT 4 tools
As more users gain access to the new multimodal functionality, additional examples of how all GPT-4 tools can be used together are appearing.
Interestingly, the “All Tools” feature of GPT-4 does not appear to include the ChatGPT plugins.
This could be a thoughtful choice to streamline the user experience and push external additions, which offered similar functionality in the past, into the background.
The ability to analyze PDFs and other files directly in the system eliminates the need for external ChatGPT plugins, which until now have filled these gaps.
By consolidating such features into the latest version of ChatGPT, OpenAI has responded to user feedback to create a more powerful tool that does not rely on external functionality.
In addition to giving users access to “All Tools” from GPT-4, some have noted a more recent knowledge date.
This latest news comes ahead of OpenAI’s DevDay conference next week, where the company is expected to explore new tools with developers.
