New (and Underrated) AI Features in Your Favorite Social Media Platforms You Haven’t Tried Yet

If you’re not living in a cave, you probably know by now that artificial intelligence is in every aspect of the Internet and social media. It’s no longer just ChatGPT or Midjourney, there’s a lot more of these AI things going on these days faster than you blink your eyes.

We are seeing more “Ask AI” buttons in the wild lately and it’s not just to help you write an email, manage your tasks, or generate images on social media, many of our favorite platforms are slowly unveiling these features without too much fanfare. Let’s face it, we live in a digital world where there is an increasing need for on-demand content and users want to create (more likely, generate) content in an instant. Even your favorite sparkle ? emoji is now attributed to these generative technologies in the form of these “Ask AI” buttons.

Social Media and AI

The building block of a successful social media platform has always been user content. The virality of a content is the determining factor of success. It’s all about the content that generates a lot of likes, shares, and comments that usually end up getting viral. The top social media users with a lot of followers and engaging content are the ones that influence the majority of the users in that social media platform.

If you come to think of it, social media is supposed to be on the opposite spectrum when you put it right besides AI. And we all know that created content is not the same as AI-generated content.

Yet, it didn’t come as a surprise when social media would eventually embrace the power of AI and its generative capabilities. Soon, people are generating more content and letting their imaginations run wild.

Google

Not to be out done, online search giant Google also incorporated certain AI features across its different platforms like their email writing assistant for Gmail while YouTube is also testing out different AI features with their own buttons like Topics and Research Tab. What makes it interesting is that some of their AI features they rolled out don’t even have the recognizable sparkle icon on it.

But the icing on their AI cake is Gemini, their most powerful large language model (LLM) yet, as the race for AI supremacy with OpenAI intensifies.

Meta

With its valuable database of user information, Meta is one of the major platforms to embrace it by incorporating Restyle and Backdrop image editing features, conversational assistant Meta AI, AI character personas, and generative AI for advertisers. When posting generated images on their platform, these will be labeled with an “AI Info” tag. These are some of the things that are slowly being rolled out into Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

TikTok

TikTok has introduced different AI tools in their Creative Center, including their Script Generator. Users will only have to provide details about their industry, product, and other relevant keywords. They can choose their video length too. Then the tool will generate different sample scripts with audio and visual cues on it. Aside from that, they also have a virtual assistant, a video creation tool, and digital avatars. It has already started developing a powerful chatbot called Genie that is expected to be even better than their older Tako chatbot.

X

In the popular microblogging platform, Elon Musk unveiled its chatbot Grok as a competitor to ChatGPT. It showcases a unique personality with a more rebellious attitude as compared to the boxed-down conservative, and oftentimes robotic, counterparts in the market. It’s also more updated since it's specifically trained on X’s latest user data. Imagine talking to a chatbot that feels and acts with humor like Deadpool.

LinkedIn

If you’re a Premium LinkedIn user, you will see the “Rewrite with AI” giving you an option for an AI-enhanced version of your content before clicking the post button. Thanks to their AI integration, not only will it help you search for the best suitable job that fits your profile, it will even help rewrite your resume and cover letter.

Snapchat

Taking AI integration to the next level, Snapchat has unveiled its selection of AI-powered lenses and filters. They used machine learning to create real-time augmented reality experiences that users can apply to their photos and videos. Their “My AI” chatbot helps users find answers, get recommendations, and even generate creative ideas for their snaps.

Pinterest

The curation platform leverages AI to enhance user experience through their Pinterest Ad Labs. This is available on select brands with tools that include generative AI powered by personalized insights to create custom collages. Depending on the user's preferences and tastes, a particular background is generated. It also developed a new automation tool to deliver better advertiser performance through Pinterest Performance+.

Looking Forward

The future of AI integration in social media platforms promises to be transformative for both brands and users alike. As these technologies continue to advance, their impact on the digital landscape will become even more significant just as new opportunities and challenges emerge.

For Brands

AI will enable brands to reach their target audiences with unprecedented precision. By analyzing vast amounts of their data on user behavior, preferences, and interactions, their AI features will be able to deliver highly personalized content and advertisements. Another thing to point out is that AI chatbots and virtual assistants will become even more sophisticated as more advanced LLMs are used. That means, it will improve customer satisfaction tremendously.

AI tools can streamline the content creation process so that brands can produce engaging content consistently. Every content is curated by identifying trending topics and collective user behavior. As predictive analytics will take center stage as more data is analyzed, brands will be able to anticipate new trends in real time.

For Users

As algorithms understand individual preferences even better than before, users will be able to discover branded content that suits their needs. This means more engaging social media experience and less irrelevant and intrusive content.

AI-powered tools will empower users to unleash their creativity. From generating artistic filters and effects to providing creative writing assistance, AI will help users to produce professional-quality content with ease. Yet, there will always be concerns about malicious and fake content that spreads disinformation and propaganda. That’s one thing we’re all dealing with until now.

In the End

We might have a lot of questions about the future of AI in social media but there’s no denying about the exciting possibilities for both brands and users alike. With AI text and image generators slowly becoming widely used in the mainstream media, creating social media content at a faster rate are all becoming the new normal in digital marketing.

These technologies have already revolutionized the social media landscape and will continue to do so as it brings transformative change - enhancing overall user experience, automating customer service, streamlining content creation, and providing powerful predictive analytics.

The ongoing advancements will facilitate deeper connections and innovative content creation. Embracing AI in social media is not just a trend but a fundamental shift that will shape our digital future.
